“Photographic experimentation inspired by Carving. A Traditional Sculpture (1972) by Eleanor Antin, and Cuts. A Traditional Sculpture (2011) by Cassils.
Through this long-lasting piece, it is intended to give voice to vulnerability by showing the bodily transformation experienced during two years after the last competition by then (November 2017). When decided to deconstruct the sculptural and sickly competitive body to regain health and begin a process to generate a new version to compete again in two years (2020). It is not an idyllic body, but the reflection of transformation and change, the pressures experienced in what is expected of it, and what it is that one demands oneself.
The photographic piece is accompanied by fragments of texts of the artist’s reflections to give voice to how feelings about our bodily transformation pass through us, how our bodily boundaries condition us.
*Transmogrification’s piece is expected to be published as a photo-book in the near future.
